“Let’s keep #ScarboroughStrong: A Pop-Up Vaccination Clinic at your Toronto Zoo!”
Toronto, ON, Tuesday, December 10, 2024: On Saturday, December 14th, 2024 between 11:00am and 2:00pm, your Toronto Zoo will host a pop-up vaccination clinic for flu and COVID-19 for our community. This vaccination clinic is being led by the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities in collaboration with Scarborough Ontario Health Team partners. Zoo admission will be free for individuals who have pre-registered for a vaccine.
This collaboration will serve as the spotlight vaccine delivery and community engagement event for Scarborough Ontario Health Team’s winter/fall preparedness. With support from your Toronto Zoo, the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities will lead the charge to bring much-needed vaccines directly to the Scarborough community. The clinic will be open to all eligible individuals, offering COVID-19 (including booster) shots, Flu Shot and High-dose Flu Shot (65 + years) vaccines for those who qualify.
“As a science based organization your Toronto Zoo is committed to supporting our community staying healthy and using the power of science to protect and preserve life” says Dolf DeJong, CEO, Toronto Zoo. “Supporting vaccination clinics is one way we can all fight science misinformation, build a healthier community, and ensure a brighter future for all.”
“We are deeply grateful to the Toronto Zoo, our SOHT partners, and especially the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities for spearheading this pop-up clinic. This collaboration highlights the strong, collective commitment of our partners in Scarborough to keeping #ScarboroughStrong. I encourage everyone to seize this important opportunity to get vaccinated and enjoy the zoo,” says Surkhab Peerzada, Director, Scarborough Ontario Health Team.
“Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, along with our Scarborough Ontario Health Team partners, are committed to addressing health inequities and removing barriers in accessing critical services”, says Jeanie Argiropoulos, Chief Executive Officer, Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities. “This partnership allows us to bring crucial vaccines into our community, increasing access and also encouraging families to enjoy one of Scarborough’s proud features, Toronto Zoo.”
Community members are encouraged to invite their families, friends and loved ones to register, and come roll up their sleeves to get vaccinated while enjoying a day at the Zoo!
